#year 13

Image
It’s year 13 and I must pause to reflect, refocus, and keep moving forward.  Every year around this time I reflect upon how my gastric bypass has changed my life. Has it always been easy? “NOPE”‼️. However, I will continue to put one foot in the front of the other one and continue to move forward‼️

Year #12

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts." - Winston Churchill Today I celebrate my 12th year post op of gastric bypass. #year12 ( July 13, 2011)

Year 10

Allow me to be t ransparent, weight management is a daily struggle( it always has been). My journey is the epitome of a     roller coaster, with numerous ups and downs . Lately, I have been hard on myself because after having COVID, I have gained 5 lbs since December (not measuring food, and not drinking enough water). I met with my medical doctor last month and she opened my eyes and informed me that I have a tool, “ use it”. She said, “Whatever you have done previously; keep it up. Whatever you are doing to gain; only you have control of your destiny; make better decisions.” She opened my eyes to when I first came to her in 2003 and through discussion she was able to remove some profile items off my medical chart: sleep apnea ( gone); pre diabetes (gone); lower blood pressure ( yes, I am on a lower dose),cholesterol issues ( gone).     This is my big take a way: Celebrate the good; refocus the areas that need improvement; continue riding the roller coaster to better health.

Year 9

Today I am celebrating my 9th year of having weight-loss surgery. I had gastric bypass on July 13, 2011. My entire life I have always struggled with weight management. After have TWO Pulmonary embolisms and one DVT, I made the decision to have WLS and it has totally given me a renewed perspective on life.      Be mindful I am not a  doctor ;however  ,this  pertains to MY journey . I am not perfect by any means  necessary,  however these nuggets keep me grounded:   My 9  NUGGETS  Of  TRUTH about WLS:       Measure ALL foods. (Believe it or not, I still have my small food containers and when I don’t measure, my clothes CAN tell it😂)   Self-Worth; cannot be affiliated  with sizes .  I have been a size 2 and I’ve also been a size 22.   3. Movement is important. Find something that you like to do and do it. No one wants to do anything that they do not enjoy. For example,  I walk  religiously 3-4 days.   4. Make yourself a priority. (I am still working on this  one because  I wear many hats

Year 8

Year 8...Maintain, Reflect, Repeat.... and do it again!

Year 7

Year 7... LIFE Lessons Be consistent ( protein, exercise, and water) Do not weigh daily! However, weight your options and change your lifestyle. It’s ok to color outside of the lines. Be authentic and express yourself fully. Do not allow food to dictate your life.  Find a hobby to engage in, it will occupy your mind.  Do not get complacent. Being complacent only limits yourself! Iron sharpens iron. Find friends who have similar goals and actively push each other.  Every meal is a NEW OPPORTUNITY to start over again. Don’t wait till Monday. Your food choices DAILY are vital for your success Live fearlessly and enjoy life.
